Mr Bilal Barkatali is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and hip surgery. He grew up in Manchester, attending Bolton School where he was School Captain in his final year, excelling both academically and in sporting pursuits, including representing his school at 1st XV rugby. He studied Medicine at The University of Edinburgh, from which he graduated in 2004.
After completing his house officer year, he spent time at The University of Oxford undertaking a prosectorship, teaching anatomy, which developed his grounding and a passion for surgery. Following his basic surgical training, he gained entry into higher specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, both on the North West rotation.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and has completed a fellowship in Knee Surgery, becoming a specialist in this field.
He completed his training in July 2014, and secured a position as a Consultant at Salford Royal NHS Teaching Foundation Trust. He is passionate about the NHS and is involved in a number of quality improvement projects at Salford Royal, helping to deliver the highest possible level of care for Salford residents.
During his career, he has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and continues his interest in research.
